Influence factors of magnetic saturation of cemented carbide

As one of the important indices of the performance of cemented alloy products, Magnetic saturation is of great significance to the control of carbon content in the alloy. Without damaging the alloy, it can quickly, simply and accurately calculate the carbon content of the alloy with good repeatability. What are the factors that affect magnetic saturation of cemented carbide?

The influencing factors of magnetic saturation of cemented carbide include material composition, raw material ratio, microstructure, production technology, technological parameters and working environment.

1. Material composition

Tungsten-cobalt cemented carbide is mainly composed of tungsten carbide powder and cobalt metal powder, so its magnetic saturation is related to cobalt content and carbon content. In general, the magnetic saturation of cemented carbide increases with the increase of cobalt content and decreases with the increase of tungsten content in cobalt. When the tungsten content of cobalt is the same, the higher the cobalt content of the alloy, the greater the decrease of magnetic saturation.

In addition, the magnetic saturation of cemented carbide is also related to the content of carbon, chromium, vanadium, iron and other elements. When a certain amount of other elements (except tungsten) are dissolved in the bonded phase, the saturation magnetization of the alloy will decrease with the increase of tungsten content in the bonded phase.

The results show that there is a negative correlation between the carbon content of cemented carbide and the tungsten content in the bonding phase: the higher the carbon content, the smaller the tungsten content in the bonding phase, and the larger the magnetic saturation of the alloy. On the contrary, the magnetic saturation of the alloy decreases with the increase of tungsten content in the bonding phase.

There is a positive correlation between magnetic saturation and cobalt content and carbon content of alloy, which can be widely used in pre-furnace analysis of carbon control, simple operation, fast speed, high sensitivity, the precision of its carbon analysis is no less than that of chemical analysis.
