Introduction of Carbide Inserts

Apr 26, 2022

CNC Inserts

Scope of application: aviation, military, electric valve, engine block, cylinder, sphere

CNC inserts are available for both turning and milling:

Turning is the rotation of the workpiece, and the tool does the feeding movement, which is suitable for ultra-precision machining, and the quality can reach optimum.

Turning Inserts

Processing methods are: super-finishing, finishing, semi-finishing, roughing, heavy roughing.

Work objects include:

1. Processing carbon steel, alloy steel, cast steel, mild steel

2. Machining cast iron, chilled cast iron, hardened steel, non-ferrous metals, non-metals

3. Processing stainless steel, manganese steel, heat-resistant metal

Milling Inserts

Processing methods are: finishing, semi-finishing, roughing

Work objects include:

1. Processing carbon steel, alloy steel, cast steel, mild steel

2. Machining cast iron, chilled cast iron, hardened steel, non-ferrous metals, non-metals

Welding Blade

Welded blade tools are less expensive than machine-clamped blades

Application instructions for welded carbide inserts:

1. Welded cutting tool structure should have sufficient rigidity

Sufficient rigidity is ensured by the maximum allowable external dimensions and the use of higher strength steel grades and heat treatment.

2. Carbide inserts should be firmly fixed

Cemented carbide inserts should have a sufficient degree of reliability, which is guaranteed by the kerf and welding quality. Therefore, the insert groove shape should be selected according to the shape of the insert and the geometric parameters of the insert.

Before welding the blade to the shank, it is necessary to check the blade and the shank. First, check that the supporting surface of the blade; it cannot be seriously bent. The cemented carbide welding surface should not have a serious carburized layer, and the dirt on the surface of the cemented carbide blade and the insert groove of the tool holder should be removed to ensure reliable welding.

3. Requirements for solder for soldering

In order to ensure the welding strength, suitable solder should be selected. In the welding process, good wettability and fluidity should be ensured, and air bubbles should be excluded, and the solder and alloy welding surfaces should be fully contacted, and there should be no lack of welding.

4. Requirements for welding fluxes

Welding flux should be selected according to the specific material content of cemented carbide. Generally, industrial borax is used, and sometimes thin or mesh compensation gaskets are used for welding to reduce welding stress.

5. Sharpening and maintenance of carbide inserts

Due to the high brittleness of cemented carbide and strong sensitivity to crack formation, the tool should avoid overheating or rapid cooling during sharpening. Tool life.

When the tool reaches normal bluntness, it must be re-ground. After re-grinding, the tool must be ground with oil stone to grind the cutting edge and sharp corners, which can improve the service life and safety and reliability of the tool.

One of ZZ Old Craftsman's advantages has been in the production of carbide brazed inserts. And of course, we can also do CNC or other high precision carbide inserts. Then our advantage lays in the good after-sales and fast delivery.
