Performance characteristics and application range of cemented carbide sheet

Carbide sheet has five basic properties: 1. Fatigue fracture resistance 2. Strength and toughness 3. 4. Resistance to cold and heat fatigue 5. Resistance to high temperature.

Carbide sheet is mainly used in the production of blanking copper, aluminum, stainless steel, cold rolled sheet, EI sheet, Q195, SPCC, silicon steel sheet, hardware and so on. It is also the best material for making high-temperature resistant, wear-resistant, anti-shielding and corrosion-resistant parts. When used, the appropriate material of cemented carbide sheet should be selected according to the specific use.

The two main characteristics of cemented carbide sheet: high hardness, bending strength and toughness.

① High hardness: cemented carbide tool is made of hard phase and bonding phase with high hardness and melting point by powder metallurgy method, its hardness reaches 89 ~ 93HRA, much higher than high-speed steel, at 5400C, the hardness can still reach 82 ~ 87HRA, and high-speed steel hardness at room temperature (83 ~ 86HRA) the same. The hardness value of cemented carbide varies with the nature, quantity, particle size and content of the metal bonding phase, and generally decreases with the increase of the content of the bonding metal phase. The hardness of YT alloy is higher than that of YG alloy when the content of bonding phase is the same, and the alloy with TaC(NbC) has higher high temperature hardness.

② Bending strength and toughness: the bending strength of commonly used cemented carbide is in the range of 900 ~ 1500MPa. The higher the content of metal bonding phase, the higher the bending strength. When the content of adhesive is the same, the strength of YG alloy is higher than that of YT alloy, and the strength decreases with the increase of TiC content. Tungsten carbide is a brittle material, and its impact toughness at room temperature is only 1/30 to 1/8 of high-speed steel.
Carbide sheet is mainly used in the following aspects:

1. Radiation and corrosion resistant materials for medical equipment.

2. Used for making wear-resistant cutting tools. Such as woodworking industry tools, plastic crushing tools, etc.

3. Used to make high temperature resistant parts, wear-resistant parts, anti-shielding parts. Such as the guide rail of the machine tool, the anti-theft strengthening plate of the automatic teller machine, etc.

4. Used to make corrosion-resistant parts in chemical industry.

5. Used to make blanking mold. To be used in the production of copper, aluminum, stainless steel, cold rolled sheet, EI sheet, Q195, SPCC, silicon steel sheet, hardware, standard parts, up and down punches and other thin sheets of high-speed stamping die and multi-station progressive die.

6. The material properties of different uses of cemented carbide plates are not consistent, and the appropriate material of cemented carbide plates should be selected according to the specific use.
